AVOAD Meeting

Acadiana VOAD will have its next meeting Friday, Aug. 19 at 9 a.m. in the auditorium at Lafayette Consolidated Government located at 705 West University Ave. in Lafayette.

Organizations or groups helping with flood disaster efforts are invited to join Acadiana VOAD.

Additionally, organizations or businesses who are staged as a donation site are urged to attend Friday’s meeting. There will be a special session immediately following the regular VOAD membership meeting to discuss coordination and collaboration of disaster services and reduce duplication.

Acadiana VOAD was established to foster efficient, streamlined service delivery to people affected by disaster, while eliminating unnecessary duplication of effort, through cooperation, communication, coordination, and collaboration in the four stages of disaster: preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation.

This network has been in existence for over two decades and worked well during past disasters such as the 2012 Carencro flooding and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.

Acadiana VOAD welcomes any non-profit organization, government agency, civic organization or church to join so that Acadiana can collaboratively serve those affected as efficiently and effectively as possible.
